The holidays are without a doubt one of the most delicious times of the year. But it is also a fact that all that food and festive treats can leave you feeling sluggish after the party lights are out. Not to worry though, follow my steps and let’s start the new year detoxing like pros.
Although our bodies have a natural detoxification mechanism, the following tips will help to speed up the process. Relieve bloating and gas, get rid of harmful microbes and clean out your gastrointestinal tract faster and easier.
TIP #1: Start Simple
We usually consume a lot more food than we are used to over the holidays, so it’s a good idea to give our body a break and start off our day with a light, yet nutritious breakfast. A freshly pressed green juice or smoothie (you can try our Super Green Smoothie). Your body will get all the vitamins and minerals it needs while keeping it simple and light for the stomach.
TIP #2: Keep It Clean
Try not to eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food. Avoid foods that have been chemically processed and are made solely from refined ingredients and artificial substances. The less the ingredients on your food’s label the better for your health.
TIP #3: Keep It Green
It goes without saying that you should add veggies to all your meals. But if you want to take your detox to the next level, try to have a vegetable soup as one of your main meals for a few days. Your body will be thanking you after that.
TIP #4: Drink More Water
OK, this is not actually a tip. We all know that drinking water is essential for our body’s good health. It helps maintain the balance of body fluids including digestion, absorption, circulation, the creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature. In addition, when we are drinking fresh, clean water we actually flush the toxins out of our system.
TIP #5: “Spice” It Up
Did you know that there are certain spices that aid our body’s detoxification process? Some of them are turmeric, cumin, ginger, saffron, rosemary, cayenne pepper, cardamom, and (my all-time favorite) cinnamon. Adding them in your daily meals and drinks will not only help you detox but it will also maximize the flavor and jazz up your dishes.
All my love,
Alice
